In this post, I am going to discuss about some of my favorite Indipop songs which were quiet a rage during the 90s. I was a kid at that time when I used to watch those Indian pop music videos on various channels. Sadly, these days the pop genre has lost its value. Gone are the days when we had great pop singers like Alisha Chinai, Falguni Pathak, Hans Raj Hans, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Daler Mehendi, etc. Some of my favourite Indipop songs are listed below. I can even now listen to these songs and watch these beautiful music videos again and again.
1.Maine Paayal Hai Chankai-Falguni Pathak
I still can remember how much I loved this song as a child. And now, I have a great liking for it. I keep watching this video even now, repeatedly. This beautiful pop melody was popular in 90s and it was loved by everybody.
2.Choodi Jo Khanki-Falguni Pathak
Nobody can deny the fact that this song was the most popular Indipop song of 90s. Sung by Falguni Pathak and picturised on Riya Sen, it became an anthem for the girls of 90s. The steps of this song were performed in almost all the dance performances!!!
3.Meri Chunar Ud Ud Jaaye-Falguni Pathak
This song was a beautiful pop melody that enchanted many hearts. It had the Kollywood beauty Trisha making her debut with this music video along with Ayesha Takia in the lead.
4.O Piya O Piya-Falguni Pathak
This popular song had a funny music video in which a girl walks on a highly elevated rope, singing out to her lover.
5.Aiyo Rama-Falguni Pathak
A enjoyable pop song which appeared in the later 90s. The simple yet peppy song had a good music video that became famous.
6.Yeh Kisne Jaadu Kiya-Falguni Pathak
This number is a wonderful pop melody that still holds on to many. The video which showed a girl madly in love with her professor, only to be snubbed by him at the end. Later she finds true love in another guy.
7.Made In India-Alisha Chinai
This was not only a popular Indipop song but it went viral all over India and found a good place even in the international charts. The music video is still being played in many music channels. Alisha's best song ever.
8.Lover Girl-Alisha Chinai
This song of Alisha was equally popular as Made in India. With fast paced dance moves, this song makes everyone groove to its beats.
9.Vaalparai Vattaparai-Malgudi Shubha
A Tamil pop song which became a range in 90s. Malgudi Shubha's rather ferocious singing made this pop song famous and the music video went viral after its release.
10.Ussele Ussele-Srinivas
It was a pucca village Tamil pop song by Srinivas. The video became popular and the song was sung in many stage shows.
11.Nasha Hi Nasha Hai-Sukhwinder Singh
An excellent pop song rendered flawlessly by Sukhwinder singh. The music video spoke about two lovers who did not have a life together.
12.Aur Ahista-Pankaj Udhas
This is my most favorite song and music video as it speaks about true love between an Indian girl and a foreign guy. Though it doesn't fall into the pop category and rather goes into ghazal, it was still popular for Pankaj Udha's beautiful composition.
13.Chuimui Si Tum-Milind Ingle
This was one great song from Milind Ingle's "Yeh hai prem" album. The cute small teddy bear became a rage after this video was released.
14.Kudi Jach Gayi-Milind Ingle
This song was a continuation of Chuimui si. It had great punjabi beats and the video became quiet popular.
15.Sach Bolta Hoon Main-Pankaj Udhas
A beautiful composition by Pankaj Udhas with a heart touching video.
16.Wo Ban Sanwar Kar-Pankaj Udhas
A great song by Pankaj Udhas which depicts a rather cute love story in the video.
17.Is Kadar Pyaar Hai-Sonu Nigam
Sonu Nigam's one of the beautiful gems. Those who listen to this song will literally have tears in their eyes. The video is also fantastic.
18.Ab Mujhe Raat Din-Sonu Nigam
It was one of the most romantic compositions of Sonu Nigam with his mellifluous voice. The video was also equally romantic.
19.Kuch Tum Socho-Sonu Nigam
A happy melody song with a happy ending in the music video. One of Sonu Nigam's best.
20.Piya Basanti Re-Ustad Sultan Khan,Chitra
And here is the best of the lot. This song oozes with melody and the music video was one of the most popular videos of the millenium 2000. Of course "Piya Basanti" album won the Gold Award. The continuation of this video is another song "Surmayi aankhen" which was also a beautiful melody like this one.
